Essentially leaving lolita left me a little bereft of spirit for some time, and a little lost since it had consumed so much of my life for so long. Now I guess I'm on a quest to rediscover myself and my style. I hope you'll join me on that adventure. </div>

Thank you so much for following me this far! I'll be finishing up the Japan diary with a single post with points of interest, rather than writing the whole two weeks out two years later (eep!). </div>

Day 3 - Tokyo</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Thursday<br />
<br />
This day found us adventuring to Harajuku. I had actually only been here twice before. The first time I was with my school and we were only allowed to stay in Takeshita, I didn't really find anything good but I did find things my silly younger self bought. The second time was a very quick trip, which I think I've written about before. I flew in to Osaka, caught the train to Tokyo, went to Closet Child in Ikebukuro, Shinjuku and Harajuku, bought some stuff and then caught the train back to Osaka in the evening. I don't really recommend that course!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjuV7Ydy3CKvlZEfptsyHyhuUUv3s9le8wVyTfhPOBkXqGKAnCuQqC2cqFA2IJ0Wnz9QjMhoZUct1-pVz_K8Y-wa2PTpN_qsTF92sDwuSDXUYesXBfcifhPavZVLz64m53YqjW2r1-Ez0o/s1600/Takeshita.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjuV7Ydy3CKvlZEfptsyHyhuUUv3s9le8wVyTfhPOBkXqGKAnCuQqC2cqFA2IJ0Wnz9QjMhoZUct1-pVz_K8Y-wa2PTpN_qsTF92sDwuSDXUYesXBfcifhPavZVLz64m53YqjW2r1-Ez0o/s320/Takeshita.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
On our itinerary for the day was WEGO, Laforet, finding a suit case for me, Q-Pot cafe and shop and of course Closet Child.<br />
<br />
We started the day making our way down Takeshita Dori. We spotted WEGO straight off the bat, and I found the bunny backpack I had been coveting. We also picked up some cheap stockings. WEGO things are cheap, kind of Target or Kmart level cheap, but cooler. I wouldn't recommend their tights if you wear through good, well made tights regularly. I really love my back pack too, but part of the stitching on the back has come undone from stress. It's fixable, but I also take forever to get around to things so I haven't done anything about it yet. My tail bobble on the front pocket also came off. I can only imagine what their shoes might be like.. perhaps other people have had better luck. All of the sweaters we bought there have held up really well though! Thali only bought one this day, but we both got another each later in Osaka. I guess that's my warning about buying budget stuff, knowing what you are getting in for. I still really love my backpack though ♥<br />
<br />
We wandered the street looking here and there until we made it to Closet Child! I really like Harajuku CC. It's usually considered pretty picked over but I didn't see much change in the stock over the week we were in Tokyo. I found some AP tights (I think they are the pair that match Romantic Rose Letter?) in lavender. But I think I mostly enjoyed looking at the other floors! I didn't purchase anything else at the time, but we did find Lizzy her gold MILK heart bag! I'm looking forward to dragging my mum back there later this year.<br />
<br />
We eventually made it to Laforet. Big surprise, we had not eaten by this point. I had a peek in AP and picked up an accessory. I didn't experience the same rudeness I've heard reported from the shop staff here. I found them perfectly pleasant, but very preoccupied since they had their big end of year tea party coming up the following Monday. We looked at some other shops on the lower levels, and for the first time I got to see Rose Marie Seoir. I was.. really disappointed. I felt like perhaps they didn't have much, but also that the Chanel cabochons on some things were a bit tacky..<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjKFsXl3JqEVYBySwRcYhVq57eNeH8TIzErn6dfBcuee9eEz0EjVfE5TK0n_ha4AkEpEiXbJr9SI5YUlP-doiHmru_93vNTMWTkEumblsCZ8Qi2pL2eZUY_d_pNTTxSRw_JJ2KATdBYD3Q/s1600/Qpot.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjKFsXl3JqEVYBySwRcYhVq57eNeH8TIzErn6dfBcuee9eEz0EjVfE5TK0n_ha4AkEpEiXbJr9SI5YUlP-doiHmru_93vNTMWTkEumblsCZ8Qi2pL2eZUY_d_pNTTxSRw_JJ2KATdBYD3Q/s320/Qpot.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Rather than stopping here to eat somewhere, we made the rookie mistake of walking up to Q-Pot. I recommend walking, I don't recommend doing it on an empty stomach! And I especially don't recommend it when you are hungry and or sick! There is a Mos Burger part way down, if you need a savoury stop. This is probably about where Thali checked out for the day, she doesn't even really remember eating at Q-Pot (she got the tiramisu, it had a super bitter ganache. She thought the tea was okay, but called it 'builders tea'. She doesn't remember saying that.) I got the seasonal snow man and a cup of hot milk. I like hot milk a lot. I used to always go to Hudsons in Australia because they did a 'hot shot' which was hot milk with a dash of a flavoured syrup. I forgot that I don't really like Japanese milk. Somehow cream and ice cream is okay, but straight Japanese milk is terrible. It's kind of watery and has a weird flavour when compared with Australian milk.<br />
<br />
After eating our sweets, I got a gacha from the machine and we went across the street to the Q-Pot store. It kind of confused us, as the store is down stairs with the opening on the ground level. There's also a mirror at one end of the shop, and if you're silly like me you'll think you can walk through. You can't. Thali made me a Christmas present of a pair of pink whip earrings, and we spoke to the super nice shop staff while they put everything through. Thali did the thing where she see's something she likes but decides not to get it, but more on that later.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg0MhviCO42CNay2pJZRM-R6e2BclkvkC-grqdQLdCWFsWKB45yj_l_Sw3z7ciINbApleDB1vp7rs8z5H_BWqf2ejik7ghDNCBIKf7cTBYJrBDyNVF0a55Ec-FGTPlrTcbWtgHpBg3kRRw/s1600/QPot+Christmas.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg0MhviCO42CNay2pJZRM-R6e2BclkvkC-grqdQLdCWFsWKB45yj_l_Sw3z7ciINbApleDB1vp7rs8z5H_BWqf2ejik7ghDNCBIKf7cTBYJrBDyNVF0a55Ec-FGTPlrTcbWtgHpBg3kRRw/s320/QPot+Christmas.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
We headed back to Takeshita. We stopped at Kiddy Land and in a stupor Thali bought a back pack and I got a puzzle. We pushed on to Jewelna Rose where I bought found a suit case on sale that I liked. We'd packed light and bought fold out bags, but I'd wanted to pick up a new smallish hand luggage sized suitcase. I have a small one, which we took, but it weighs about 5kilos on it's own. I'd trust it with my laptop, but I don't need it for clothes.<br />
<br />
At this point we decided to call it a day. I stuffed all our purchases in one of the larger bags and the suitcase so Thali didn't have to carry anything as she'd gotten a bit of a fever by this point. We headed back to the train station poste haste.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEigTsA8oZ4SmUVD6C8X5IqOrZ20NloybAmqCn9C2ftxHyB9fBCw9sVieWweVsgWBj_Q0OocrQOVPk0kgfdeFBMQurIeY1Al2ECbM4EDpRObWHaGqDCd1SQzNGyOx3TdfT5a1x0gdbsEx6E/s1600/Harajuku+Haul.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEigTsA8oZ4SmUVD6C8X5IqOrZ20NloybAmqCn9C2ftxHyB9fBCw9sVieWweVsgWBj_Q0OocrQOVPk0kgfdeFBMQurIeY1Al2ECbM4EDpRObWHaGqDCd1SQzNGyOx3TdfT5a1x0gdbsEx6E/s320/Harajuku+Haul.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Somewhere between Harajuku and Otsuka, Thali decided she needed to get off the train. She then proceeded to give a poor Japanese woman a fright by gracefully fainting in the middle of the platform. The woman very kindly went to get help from the station staff, but I think he may have only started coming up the stairs as we were coming down them. I felt so bad, but Thali only wanted to get off the platform and out of the way. After a bit, we managed to get back on the train and head home. I tucked Thali into bed, went to forage (painkillers, check. Mos Burger, check.) and then probably sat around on my phone using the wifi, haha.<br />
<br />
We visited a good number of places we'd wanted to, but we actually ended up heading home quite a bit earlier than we'd intended. I wanted Thali to get plenty of rest because we'd actually bought tickets to Disney Land for the next day (I bought them online. I didn't print them immediately. I forgot my password. I almost cried. There is no password recovery. I eventually remembered and printed like two copies just in case)! I guess more on that next, sorry, that's quite a cliff hanger!<br />

We ended up with a stand alone shop right next to the station, and they'll often have them in department stores. <a href="http://www.survivingnjapan.com/2010/07/how-to-find-ibuprofen-in-japan.html" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Eve</a> is a popular brand of ibuprofen, but the dose per tablet is quite a bit lower than Australian capsules. I originally picked up aspirin since Thali had a fever, but it didn't do much for her pain wise, so I went back and got ibuprofen later. Trying to clumsily trying to say ibuprofen (with a long ee sound at the start) will at least get them to find you the Eve, if you haven't managed to do so yourself. *<br />

Update! I have a computer!<br />
<br />
Day 2 - Tokyo <br />
Wednesday<br />
<br />
Day two saw us (me) waking up too early to actually do anything. Nothing really opens in Japan until about 10 or 11, and with the winter morning light I kept waking up around 6 or 7AM.<br />
<br />
Thankfully, Sekaido, our number one destination for the day, opened at 9.30AM. I think we probably grabbed something to eat from the nearby combini (and then probably left it in our bag for the day) and went on our way.<br />
<br />
Sekaido is an arts supply store of a proportion that I can't really describe. It's six or so floors of pens, paints, papers, frames, books- it starts with pleb stationary on the ground floor and moves up through the ranks of different artistic disciplines. We got there just after it opened and Thali was ready to leave just before Marui Annex opened at 11AM. I picked up a couple of pens and a notebook and mostly just followed Thali around as she hunted down her wishlist.<br />
<br />
We moved onto Marui Annex, which delightfully is directly next door. I think Shinjuku is one of my favourite spots in Tokyo, I just generally really enjoyed it but I especially really liked Annex. Probably because we were there early on a Wednesday, the entire building was very quiet and the shopping staff were just really pleasant.<br />
<br />
We browsed a bit, but we both knew our final destinations; Angelic Pretty and Jane Marple. Jane Marple happened to release a design that Thali really liked. She decided to pass on it, and bought a bow clip instead. We then headed over to AP, where I bought.... a bit. I walked out with a pair of shoes, a coat, and some accessories. I also picked up the most recent catalogues, I guess I just really like catalogues. My bag was ridiculous, and in the end I couldn't bring it home- I do already have one I bought home from a previous trip though! We also picked up some post cards at FEWMANY. The Imai Kira section (non postcards) was quite picked over (I blame my friends who came in November) but received a restock later in the week when we passed by again.<br />
<br />
Thali went back to look at the JM skirt, said no. Found two other skirts she really liked at Lowry's Farm, bought them. We went downstairs and got our tax back. We went back upstairs and Thali bought the skirt. She got a Christmas shopping bag, which the shop girl made sure to mention. I made her bring it home.<br />

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br />
After that small dillema, we decided we desperately needed food (that food from the combini? Still in a back pack. Uneaten. Of course). We found Eat More Soup and Bread and decided nothing could be better on such a cold day. For the first part of the trip, I was a bit anxious about eating and walking, so we ended up starving by lunch time a lot. For people who like food we were really bad at stopping and eating it. Re-energised, we then hit up Closet Child, Maiden Clothing and Okadaya.<br />
<br />
Shinjuku CC was probably the luckiest place for me over the whole of the trip. I found a dream dress, Maiden Ribbon Jacquard and also picked up a cute Shirley Temple regimental stripe dress- I was overjoyed to find a striped piece in pink! And both at very good prices. I've since altered the ST piece, since it was tiny, but you'll hear more on that at a later date. Maiden Clothing wasn't too far from CC, so we decided we might as well have a look- it was a bit of a bust though. I imagine it might be good if you like older or punkier stuff.<br />
<br />
Okadaya is a dream, and my one goal there was to buy fake flowers. Achieved, we had a look at fabrics but decided since we were thinking of going to Nippori, we skipped buying anything for today. <br />
<br />

<br />
Thoroughly exhausted, we made our way home and picked up dinner and dessert from the basement of one of the big department stores in Ikebukuro. I became readdicted to Kagome fruit and vegetable juice, and I 100% attribute it to not getting as sick as I could have, more on that next time, haha. We happily found a Takano kiosk there, and got dessert! We'd intended to go to their cafe but had ended up feeling a little too intimidated. I'm sad we didn't! Since these were delicious, and the fruit was particularly good. I guess it's something to save for next time !♥<br />

<br />
So, it's been a while since I wrote a blog post. I do intend to get back to it, but at the moment I am without a computer of my own and without many of the photos I had taken or prepared for posting.. My poor laptop died on me a little while ago, and I haven't yet replaced it. So it may be a while yet still again.<br />
<br />
I'm also in a bit of a rut, but I'm hoping doing some cleaning will help. I've not yet found a spot to take photos here that I like, but I must admit that there are still quite a number of boxes about. And really I'm not sure what I should take photos of. I did a very big wardrobe overhaul, which is still not really finished. I lost a lot of my patience for lolita fashion, and a lot of my patience with myself. I think this is a bit of a turning point, and I'm not really sure where I want to go. I guess at least I am somewhat in a position where I can decide that for myself, so at least I have that.<br />
<br />
Maybe I'll write about that sometime, maybe I'll see where this blog goes. I always really try to write for myself and try not to be too apologetic about whether I hit a schedule or make readable posts.<br />
<br />
I guess that I'll be back when I manage it; get a computer, find a good place for photos, decide what I'll even write here about. I'll still continue my Japan and About a Dress Posts, but other than that I'm not sure.<br />
<br />
Until then!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15383505337285564873noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5298740464582076037.post-42782684980937348672016-02-24T20:02:00.001+10:302016-02-24T20:07:06.921+10:30Japan Diary Day 1<div style="text-align: center;">
In the first weeks of December, Thali and I made our first trip together to Japan! I've done a little day by day diary of our adventures.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Our trip was for two weeks. We attempted to accquire tickets to the Angelic Pretty tea party but unfortunately we weren't successful. It was a bit of a shame, but we had a great time regardless!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
We spent the first week in Tokyo, and the remainder in Kyoto/Osaka. I think next time we'll go for a little longer and give ourselves some more relax days (and maybe keep a day free for when one or both of us inevitably becomes ill!). The day actually coincides with the date (so day 1 was the 1st of December) so I'm not going write it for each, but in case you were wondering!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This was my 6th trip and Thali's 3rd trip, I think. My Japanese is rudimentary at best and I can muddle along, but I'm really grateful to my friends who helped me with double checking information <span style="font-size: xx-small;">(ily jordi and aviva)</span>. I used google maps for all our travel, since it's pretty extensively integrated with Japan's public transport. I have an excessive number of screen shots of gmaps instructions and well the actual map with markers. I don't think there was anything we looked for that we couldn't find.<br />
<br />
Let's begin!<br />
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Some of my final haul. I needed a photo to start with since I didn't take many at all for this day.</td></tr>

<div style="text-align: center;">
Day 1 - Tokyo</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Tuesday</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br />
Our flight arrived early in the morning on the 1st. We'd packed light, so we skipped over leaving our luggage anywhere and jumped on the Skyline. It was a few changes and jumping across lines and train companies, which is a great challenge when you've just gotten off a nine hour flight, but we made it to our first destination- Grand Bazaar in Shimokitazawa!<br />
<br />
The store is really lovely and the shop staff were really nice. It was super quiet, and we mostly browsed alone. Thali was lucky enough to find JM's Royal Stripe midi skirt in green, and I picked up two cardigans. One was a lavender glitter cardigan from ETC that Thali had picked up and suggested to me, I dithered but I'm really glad I got it. I've already lost count of the number of times I've worn it. We picked up a few cakes on our way to the station that were super tasty. I think it would be nice to spend a bit more time in the area next time, but that it seems the kind of place that would take a while to get to know.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi76tsFW4X-zwsquBRgvtnUHU8ZAUMm2kvTorLCf3XcX0bEFO4EdGwG89rgrNkptW-qmhrc6bZNiWvmIA5yVLY-aCqt7Xrd-ZIwA8WNhZhZ_V4DgHBbH0vaFGotqPfTnNxLn4XF0c51iHU/s1600/Ikebukuro.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi76tsFW4X-zwsquBRgvtnUHU8ZAUMm2kvTorLCf3XcX0bEFO4EdGwG89rgrNkptW-qmhrc6bZNiWvmIA5yVLY-aCqt7Xrd-ZIwA8WNhZhZ_V4DgHBbH0vaFGotqPfTnNxLn4XF0c51iHU/s320/Ikebukuro.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
After Shimokitazawa, we jumped on a train back to Ikebukuro. We stayed with Panda Club in their nearby airbnb. It was super cost effective for the area, though would have been cramped for people not really used to small apartment living. We got into Ikebukuro just in time for check in! We took some time to relax and get rid of that gross I just got off a plane feeling and then went for a look around Ikebukuro~<br />
<br />
Ikebukuro is a place that's very easy to get to know! There's a lot of signage and it's not too difficult to navigate. We looked in at Closet Child Ikebukuro and I picked up some accessories, and Thali a cute regimental skirt. We took dinner at Saizeriya and I won Thali a tiny puppy key chain in a crane machine. They've gotten really difficult! Saizeriya is a cheap eats kind of place. I don't know that they're great (and they got rid of the salad or added shrimp to it and I was sad) but if you want something cheap, warm and filling they're not too bad.<br />
<br />
We poked our head into a chemist and picked up some make up and for our dessert, we celebrated our first night with parfaits at the Milky Way Cafe. Mine came with candles, given the number of things we did or almost knocked over it probably wasn't the best idea. We survived though, and headed home with our spoils ♥</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
I'd like to introduce a small little series of blog posts I'd been thinking about writing. If you're interested in reading my thoughts about a specific piece from my wardrobe, please let me know and I'll put it to the top of the queue. The photos may be a bit of a mix, but here go's it.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Belle Epoque Rose was one of my first purchases last year. I ordered through <a href="http://tenshishop.com/" target="_blank">Tenshi Shop</a> as soon as the first tiny shots showed up in Kera, though I probably didn't need to as it took some hours for it to sell out online. I did score the candle with it too though! And though I couldn't get the post card, my dear friend Lizzy was able to get it for me from the France pop up.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
BER is part of AP's lavender label line, and was a bit more expensive than the usual release at ¥32,184. With shopping service fees and EMS postage to Australia, this dress comes second in price in my wardrobe only to Cats Tea Party. </div>

A lot of what I like about BER is in it's overall feeling, which is probably a bit sad to say with the section coming below. The print photographs well, has a lovely sweet feeling and is a little bit princess-y. The chiffon bustle back is the perfect detail (and will never require ironing!). Print wise, I love the delicate look of the lace overlay over what would otherwise be bare solid coloured parts of the print.<br />

The mix of white lace and cream in the print can make coordinating with either a bit of a nightmare (my usual trick is to just do both together). It photographs best with white, since the cream tone can be easily eliminated, but in person it is definitely there. If you're a purist, you'll want nothing to do with this.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
On the bodice there are two rows of ribbon lacing down the seams. If you look carefully you can see one is thinner than the other at the top, causing a small bubble in the fabric. The pink ribbon in the 'lacing', the three satin ribbons on the front are a warm pink, whereas the detachable ribbon atop the bodice is a similar cool pink tone to the prints colour, but is almost wildly fluro compared to it. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The print. I've read before that people were upset with it's quality. And I have to admit, when I took my dress from it's box, I was a bit too. It's not an easy thing to photograph, and I think it contributes in the end to how well the garment does photograph but, it definitely lacks any crisp feeling. I'm not sure if its a design choice on behalf of AP, but it was a little bit of a let down to start with. In the end though I stopped putting my nose up to the fabric and stood back to appreciate it. I mention this more for anyone considering buying it's sake, as it might be a sore point for some people. I'm pretty unphased by it now though. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Another very small thing is that I think the lace is all rather generic? There's nothing special about the embroidery, which is okay just not very exciting. </div>

<b>Coordination Suggestions</b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
For simple tastes; pink, white, cream, roses, ribbons, gold.<br />
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
For something a little more interesting; dark green, mint, navy, black, dark pink. Vintage clocks, rocking horses and perfume bottles feature in the print and could be drawn in as a smaller motif for jewellery, or as an ambitious Marie Antoinette style hair piece for more OTT looks.<br />
<br />
More of my Belle Epoque Rose coordinates <a href="http://milkamenthe.blogspot.com.au/search/label/belle%20epoque%20rose" target="_blank">here</a>. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><br /></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b>Care level</b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Delicate fabric, delicate trims. Take care with sharp jewellery, walks over rougher terrain and unkempt park benches. I have only hand washed this piece so far. You'll want a clothes airer that you can lay the dress on to dry (in the shade), as hanging by the straps when wet will likely damage the garment.<br />
<br />
<br />
<b>Final Thoughts</b><br />
I love this dress. It may seem a little silly given the large negative section above, but I really do. I'm not even upset about what I paid but it's definitely not a dress for everyone!<br />

If you'd like to see any coordinates, theres a button on the side bar to your right. I didn't take many photos this year of myself wearing things. I think I wore it more than I think I did, but I started favouring mannequin shots a lot. I guess that has a lot to do with my self esteem this year. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
For the most part, anything new is toward the top of its section, and many of my new items were accquired approximately two weeks ago, haha. If you have any questions about anything, just ask. I've reused (and re-edited) photos from last year for a couple of pieces and large lot of my accessories. I'm not sure I sold anything personal this year, so there's only really been additions anyway.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I'll do a bit more of a retrospect in another post, since I did some goals last year and I'd like to do some more again. Thanks for looking!</div>

Last year I wrote three resolutions in my wardrobe post, I thought I would devote a post to that this year and include some new resolutions and goals! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
My resolutions for 2015 were:</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b>1. Complete base sets (Headbow, Blouse, Bag, Plain Colour Tights, Shoes, Necklace, Bracelet, Ring) in focus colours. </b><br />
I'm on my way with a couple of colours, but I'm not sure it's bad that I didn't achieve this. Especially seen as I'm attempting to cut down colours.</div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b> 2. Accquire Belle Epoque Rose, Romantic Rose Letter and Lucienne Dream </b><br />
Two out of three isn't bad! And I actually managed to get a third dress from my wishlist that wasn't mentioned here.<br />
<br />
<b> </b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b>3. Shop in Japan </b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Hell yeah I did.</div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br />
I think I really lost myself this year. I didn't wear it often, I wasn't really happy with what I would wear when I did and I've just felt generally really kind of crap this year. I want to get back to what made me happy in 2014. I think moving back into the city, and being a bit more active this coming year will really help with that.<br />
<br />
I've been thinking a lot about what was different between 2014 and 2015 as well. I had a more limited colour palette usually, and I subscribed to a very basic way of coordinating. I think I spent too much time this year trying to be interesting, when I'm kind of not. I'm okay with not being interesting, I'd rather be consistent. And you know, happy.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh7i-Oqi0Cxn5sCBBnfQ3ih3LM8UQUR51FPkl3VQP_1rJ9UdGHWCoVQVOFnkc4bsfqqyOHhDhFmo0zAILPKuz9K93FmTwu3APVba7la2i4JJZTyLYD6SERyfmVVCawaBst-I4BmZVhmyHg/s1600/Wardrobe-Goals-2016.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh7i-Oqi0Cxn5sCBBnfQ3ih3LM8UQUR51FPkl3VQP_1rJ9UdGHWCoVQVOFnkc4bsfqqyOHhDhFmo0zAILPKuz9K93FmTwu3APVba7la2i4JJZTyLYD6SERyfmVVCawaBst-I4BmZVhmyHg/s1600/Wardrobe-Goals-2016.png" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Exibit A: Unaligned circles</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I originally was going to start limiting myself to pink only from now on, but Japan showed me that I can't resist lavender and it's sometimes a much more wearable colour. I'm also going to let myself introduce black rather than the myrid other colours that are cool to coordinate with but aren't really me. Plus I really like black and pink and I've been holding myself back from it. No more.<br />
<br />
I also narrowed down some motifs/themes that I really like. I just really like it when things are cohesive, although I think there's always going to be room for cute ponies and bears.</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I've also put together a conscise wishlist for 2016. There are a few other things (mostly greeny-blue coloured I noticed) that aren't here but I was being pretty strict. I saw a lot of pieces in Japan, some I realised I didn't like as much (Silky Lady), some I realised weren't really things I would wear (Melty Berry Princess) and others I realised I had a great need (Royal Unicorn and Sugar Dream Dome). I also want to add more pieces like the three I bought home with me (Maiden Ribbon Jacquard, Whip Jacquard and the unknown Shirley Temple Dress) that are cute, simple and wearable.<br />
<br />
My goals for 2016:</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b>1. Cross 3 pieces off my wishlist.</b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Pretty standard. I'm sure that one of AP's new releases this S/S will catch my eye though, so I'm pretending there's a blank space for it. I want those two blouses in every colour they come in, so if you see them... </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b>2. Make more accessories and complete alterations.</b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I want to make more headwear or necklaces (things I wear most) and get started and finish alterations on Musee du Chocolat, Jewellery Jelly and possibly Shirring Princess and lately I've been thinking about Magical Etoile, too. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b>3.Wear lolita twice a month.</b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I would just like to wear my clothes more regularly, but quantifiable goals are usually more effective.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I want 2016 to get back to being more wearable, and just me wearing my stuff more. We'll see how I go.<br />
My wardrobe post is scheduled to go up tomorrow. I went for a gallery feeling so I hope you like it!</div>

Last weekend I celebrated my birthday with some friends ♥<br />
We ate and chatted and played a few rounds of lolita themed Scattergories and a pin the trumpet on the Melody Toy bunny. If you didn't notice already, my theme for the day was Angelic Pretty!<br />

Thanks to my dear friends for making it such a lovely day ♥</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Thali and I did our best to recreate some sweets from AP prints. Some things unfortunately didn't make it through, and others ended up being something a bit different, but overall I was happy with how our spread turned out.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Thali and I worked on the cake together. I want to say we decided on some things (such as the filling) but some things were by chance- such as when you make a large bowl of creme patisserie because you have an abundance of egg yolks.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The cake was our master piece! It was based off of the decoration dream cake (you can see it below) though we altered it because I don't think either of us wanted to tackle a three tier cake.<br /><br />Our cake consisted of two vanilla buttercake layers, filled with cream and creme patisserie. The icing was an italian meringue buttercream, that almost made me cry because it almost didn't come together and then when it did was the silkiest, smoothest thing. I am all about a nice texture in my food. our decorations were our little hand decorated decoration dream pony cookies, and our royal icing and sprinkle decorations. For the cookies, I actually used a translation of the recipe from one of the Angelic Pretty mooks. It was actually very good! Things kept relatively the right shape, which is important when you are trying to ice a pony.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjxfjfW_b7dQoSmmnEUsIOOqE2cqNDX4b0TSPjbUUb60XD99tMCj1G896nDuKBELPrP3aeClFd4S0NvkKsL-Ls09BlZO7fHgkNdEyR5ectJEKiOYokjscE6BgoJrzgYgA0Gd5jdqxLwLIo/s1600/Birthday-5.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjxfjfW_b7dQoSmmnEUsIOOqE2cqNDX4b0TSPjbUUb60XD99tMCj1G896nDuKBELPrP3aeClFd4S0NvkKsL-Ls09BlZO7fHgkNdEyR5ectJEKiOYokjscE6BgoJrzgYgA0Gd5jdqxLwLIo/s640/Birthday-5.png" width="454" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The rest of our little sweets buffet included; iced cookies based on Wonder Cookie, little jellies based on Jewellery Jelly and cruller doughnuts (baked, not fried, so more of a straight up cream puff in a doughnut shape) based on Little Bear's Cafe. The jellies were agar, with a little musk flavour- but after all the other sweets, if you didn't eat them first they actually didn't taste like much... the crullers I filled with more of my creme patisserie and dipped in chocolate. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
We also made up cookie pops which were the wonder cookie biscuits filled with a (very fake sweets tasting, thank you Japan) strawberry ganache (saved by Lauren's quick thinking) and dipped in a milk chocolate. Thali also made freckles (chocolate buttons with sprinkles) and I made my first ever these-actually-turned-out-the-way-they-were-supposed-to meringues! We threw in strawberries for good measure, sometimes you need something a little bit refreshing.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I didn't really get photos of savouries, but rest assured that the sandwich assortment and quiches (baked in my rose bundt cupcake tin) did not survive the day. We made up two drinks, one was a pink lemonade with jelly and the other was an oolong tea Thali recently bought me called Iron Goddess, mixed with my homemade cucumber and honeydew melon syrup and mint and we had a cream hot tea. And after all that, Thali set up a hot tea buffet with a number of her favourite teas~</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I was very happy with how our little spread turned out, despite some anxious moments. But who needs to focus on that anyway?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br />
We had a small corner set up with some of my AP novelties and postcards. I pretty much left my coordinate from my recent post on the mannequin and tucked it there too. And Thali made me adorable AP themed bunting that I will keep forever ♥<br />
<br />
I took the opportunity to wear Lucienne Dream with Thali. As a onepiece, it was easy enough to slip on for both of us. I pinned up parts of my hair and clipped in the rose and feather piece I used with the bonnet <i>et voil<span class="st">à~ </span></i><span class="st">I also pinned the rosette Jordi made to me on as soon as I got it ♥ </span><br />
<span class="st"><br /></span>
<span class="st">I think that there is not much more to ramble about, it was a good day, and I was very spoilt. I count myself very lucky for my friends here and I hope they enjoyed themselves (and also enjoyed learning that there is an AP print called 'Original Print').</span><br />
<span class="st"><br /></span>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
After I completed my hat I decided to work on a bonnet for Thali. Once I made up the paper pattern for Thali's bonnet, we couldn't settle on a fabric and so I started on something more Triple Fortune than Victorian Maiden and... hit somewhere in the middle. Like I said with hat, I can't really do over decorating. So actually the rose and feather pieces is a hair pin (that I need to put a more appropriate attachment on) and the bonnet is mostly plain. I think that means that I can dress it up easily. I'll try something a little more exciting for my next head piece project. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
It took some time to finish this. I worked on the base of it while I watched through all of Love Live! and then I put aside, because I wasn't sure where I was going. I only really knew that I didn't want a ribbon going under the chin, because I really do not like to have ties there. Originally I was intending to use gold in this piece, but it was just too much and I didn't have enough to match it (it was meant to match Lucienne) so the night before a photoshoot at Redwood, I decided I would finish it match Rose Toilette. Of course. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjkCozYvjEVi9vpTXkHZvQXfjWFAuvAbiQNpsca0WUzfE3WG5Wta7OoXHKSliP5iWaf7HF_CjGIH5xhECVoTVf5ELV0RMsS0EVwkEu3wrEWTgxxUZZjs8eJyfDJamW67xABCiZubN8MIkc/s1600/Bonnet-Front-Deco.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjkCozYvjEVi9vpTXkHZvQXfjWFAuvAbiQNpsca0WUzfE3WG5Wta7OoXHKSliP5iWaf7HF_CjGIH5xhECVoTVf5ELV0RMsS0EVwkEu3wrEWTgxxUZZjs8eJyfDJamW67xABCiZubN8MIkc/s640/Bonnet-Front-Deco.png" width="428" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
For the more technical details; The base materials I used are calico, felt and wire around the brim. For covering I used a matte polyester satin and a pink chiffon, the bias was made by me from the satin. I ended up using two laces, a pair of chiffon bows for decorating the sides and some very tiny little pearls dotted across the inside. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I have two more bonnets with a slightly reworked bonnet pattern in the works, made of the same material I used for the hat. Of course in colours I probably won't ever wear. I'll see how they go. I'm a little bummed because I'll have to wait until we're back in Japan to get more of the flowers and feathers I used here. But when I am...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Overall I'm happy it came out okay, and it received good feedback from my friends! I hope the tweaked pattern works okay, I should have more on that... eventually, haha.</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
Last month was Animaga, and our group 'Petite Style Society' had a very large booth! We used it the space to host a number of different brands, most were local but we had a couple send from overseas! It was very exciting, and I had a lot of fun- though of course it too was a bit stressful.... </div>

For Saturday I dressed to represent the style I was assigned, 'otome'. I didn't really like my outfit, which was a bit rushed so I hope no photos ever surface, haha. I wrote a little flyer for the booth to hand out to those interested, it will probably appear on the PSS blog eventually.</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
On Sunday I paired Magical Etoile with yellow details and finally found a way to wear my ridiculous yellow heart bag! </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This has been quite a long time coming and actually I wasn't sure if there was much point in writing it, but I did say I would so here it is.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
SMASH was incredibly stressful this year, and I hope that I never have to experience that again. Actually experiencing none of the stress I've experienced since SMASH would be great. I was incredibly lucky that some very lovely Sydney girls were able to step in and pretty much take care of everything. I couldn't have been more grateful, though I don't think I was able to show it very well.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The days after SMASH were wonderful though ♥</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Despite some small stress left over from SMASH we got to spend time with Thali's niece and brother at the zoo! We got to see the platypus and the bird show, which were definite highlights for me.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
We kind of went a little food crazy, trying a ridiculous number of cakes and ice creams, as well as raiding Thali's brothers chocolate stash (he is a chocolatier, and also likes to sample all sorts of different chocolates) and the lovely strawberry and vanilla tart he made! It was all very welcome surrounding the crap that one eats over a convention weekend...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I think if we can, we'll probably head back to SMASH again next year, but I'm not yet sure in what capacity- hopefully a less stressful one!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg83mGDfGZZJfR53kSjLD4YkTRCHqQQmgV0hPu2ICRQhYQdRrVMIev4B1J2a50f61jd5FmvxK3t8wINpqcLAoPVVQZhwbdNi4WB1HbmzHLtxTSVxgPzxWJs2A2WsA2fOGDlHVIrsoUEjuI/s1600/Bunny-Purchases.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="428" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg83mGDfGZZJfR53kSjLD4YkTRCHqQQmgV0hPu2ICRQhYQdRrVMIev4B1J2a50f61jd5FmvxK3t8wINpqcLAoPVVQZhwbdNi4WB1HbmzHLtxTSVxgPzxWJs2A2WsA2fOGDlHVIrsoUEjuI/s640/Bunny-Purchases.png" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I bought a lot of different merchandise, but here is a little look at the accessories I grabbed from the remote vending set up by the Sydney girls- a hair clip and ring from Moon Bunny- as well as the <a href="https://www.etsy.com/shop/TukoniTribe" target="_blank">Tukoni Tribe</a> galactic bunny brooch Thali bought for me online ♥</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I think I'm going bunny crazy, and that's okay, haha!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhgLxiEhT0YL_GK-40nVyeyHBpl6k68VH7clqVm8gcbEtKmh56HB2g7cRIab42dybTEl6-NcXuzxPThZgKIdw7qHbNfUeOMP7nXx2EZt_AgyPxOMWEY2XRlTPiJsHW-CYy43OAa8EuyH5Y/s1600/Lucienne-Dream-2.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhgLxiEhT0YL_GK-40nVyeyHBpl6k68VH7clqVm8gcbEtKmh56HB2g7cRIab42dybTEl6-NcXuzxPThZgKIdw7qHbNfUeOMP7nXx2EZt_AgyPxOMWEY2XRlTPiJsHW-CYy43OAa8EuyH5Y/s640/Lucienne-Dream-2.png" width="428" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Outside of cons, I've been trying my hardest to save for the end of this year (heh, some stuff just can't be bought in Japan). However, a few Fridays ago Rachel sent me a sneaky link to the one thing I'd said I would buy before we went. And now Thali and I both have Lucienne Dream to twin! We're planning something lovely, and hoping the opportunity to wear it arises in Japan. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg5BG30t9IXvF8exAPBjP5hSK2HFZUtIc_NlrFzmREA1uLV5Pzt20YaOo48w_f57z9BUaHBne9k61hN48t7TPGDdMV3T8G30YMF_KMWt72X5V-izfb0h3ArBQK9sYJSZf1SEgWNNSA0x7A/s1600/Lucienne-Dream.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg5BG30t9IXvF8exAPBjP5hSK2HFZUtIc_NlrFzmREA1uLV5Pzt20YaOo48w_f57z9BUaHBne9k61hN48t7TPGDdMV3T8G30YMF_KMWt72X5V-izfb0h3ArBQK9sYJSZf1SEgWNNSA0x7A/s640/Lucienne-Dream.png" width="428" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
It was my first actual time buying from Closet Child, so I guess I can do a mini review. I say actual because they once stuffed up the price on something, and couldn't honor it so we were refunded.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Ordering was pretty simple for me, but their how to is grossly out of date though only really in system. A lot of the information is the same, it just might be worded differently (in the case of the where are you from, I could select Australia rather than Rest of World) or in different spots.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I think because I bought it quite early in the morning, they ended up shipping the same day I ordered, a Friday. The parcel actually beat me home by a day (I love you EMS) arriving Tuesday. Other than the item or items inside, Closet Child orders are pretty unexciting as a whole. It's a dress in a bag in a box with some paper or wrap. It's a very relaxed affair, haha. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
As for it's condition, apparently it has a tiny spot somewhere. I don't know where, I haven't found it yet. The dress was under retail, though this is actually the only piece of the Lucienne series that sold on release. I don't know how intact the glitter is on the screen print, since the brown is plain but going by close up stock photos it seems to be in pretty good condition.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
As for Sydney, I'll probably write something up soon with an instagram digest. I also received a few new little accessories that I'd like to write about. Thankfully, that's mostly the end of convention season for Peppermint Fox! There's just Animaga with PSS and I can rela- prepare for the Peppermint Fox second anniversay tea party!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
No rest here!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This was the coordinate I took as a flatlay. I wanted to show off the cardigan and the MILK bag, but I've already worn them both a lot recently- strange how just one or two new pieces can make you feel refereshed? </div>

Just because I like playing with the accent colours in things. I actually for some reason expected the accent on this to be sax, but I was wrong. I really like the green details, I want to try bringing them out a bit more. </div>

Whelp all my photos were bad, so I took some instead on the mannequin. I changed out the blouse though- originally I wore a white one which just didn't work. This coordinate also features two new items! A cardigan that Thali and I are 'sharing' and my very own MILK heart bag. It popped up in my most desired colour (combination?) and a friend was able to secure it for me! Thank you so much Lizzy ♥ I have some of the best friends.</div>

<br />
<br />
My little AVCon haul! I was, I think, very modest in my spending. I picked up some cute little bits and pieces in the artist alley and then also some exhibitors loot; a. ETC cardigan and Jewelry Jelly ring from Dapper Doe, Sylveon pokedoll thanks to Christine and one of the best rings in the world from Mascarateer. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Thali saw the cardigan and told me to run over and look. It matches really well with my wardrobe, though is quite a dark cream, I'm really glad I grabbed it and the ribbon details are so cute. I just love cardigans so much. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I was intending to pair it with a number of my dresses to show it off, but I ran out of light so here it is with my current favourite (it would seem) Sweetie Chandelier. </div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
About AVCon, it was interesting. The convention centre has finished being renovated on a side that was formerly closed, so the venue was significantly bigger. I heard that there was also a significantly larger number of attendees through the door. It's a shame we apparently didn't see many of them.<br />
<br />
The weekend was relatively stress free though. I managed to not be up too late most nights, and did my best to try and prevent con plague... it didn't happen. Australia recently was hit with a nice Antarctic cold snap. Coupled with a couple of 10 hour bus trips, when we finally rolled home I rolled right into bed and didn't leave for the rest of the day.<br />
<br />
I was able to see many of my friends over the course of the weekend, some of them allowed us to stay with them (thank you Bear and Riana!) so we graciously took them out for dessert. Others I saw throughout the weekend. Each year I get to know the Adelaide girls a little better. Not many people are still in the comm from since I left, so it can be a bit intimidating. Thankfully there are some lovely girls, and I was really glad to get to have a good chat with them (the bonus of a quiet weekend I suppose!).<br />
<br />
The parade this year, that I talked a bit about earlier, was much improved from previous years! A pair of videos were shown, which I thought was a nice touch to help people understand what they were watching. I ended up having to go first, which was intimidating as hell and forgot to go back and sit down causing a rabble behind the curtains as the first few girls came down off the stage. There were so many beautifully dressed girls, and there was a lot of creativity. I was really impressed.<br />
<br />
Other than making my way down the AA, and going from table to the Dapper Doe booth to the food area that contained tea, I don't really know what else was going on in the convention. So that was AVCon, over again for another year. I'm now just hoping we will be able to try this time to make the trip back to Adelaide again before the next one rolls around!<br />

<div style="text-align: center;">
Well it is a bit late, but back in June our community celebrated the Winter International Lolita Day by um.. having a tea party by the sea. The tea was hosted by a little group my friends and I have started, called Petite Style. As our first event, I think it went well! And we're preparing now for the next one!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Since our theme was 'tea by the sea' we invited people to dress up. I had a long thing and decided I would go with the theme 'Jewelery Jelly Fish'! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This outfit is a little altered with the accessories, since I was playing around with things today and had taken many photos, haha. I made some little puffy side saddles? from a crystal organza and adorned them with pearls. To match, I made a ruffled head piece, with lots of little perals and diamantes. I really liked it's overall effect. My hair for the day didn't go the way I wanted. I had intended to cut a very fluffy bob into a very fluffy wig, but I hadn't the time so instead I pinned everything up. It was well received if nothing else. </div>

<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Another AVCon has come and passed us by! We took Peppermint Fox again to sell in the artist alley with our friends. It was a bitter sweet weekend, I'm not sure if we'll be going back again soon.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I entered the Lolita Fashion Parade this year in the Best Coordinate category, but I didn't manage to place. But I do get to come away with a gorgeous hat, and a bunch of new skills learned from making it!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This post is mostly going to be about the outfit and hat, I might write more about the weekend in my little haul post.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgO8A6YWlUuc2cGpcq_gQ8anvZs_hpuLb78hAvWggeHXh5pkOhLn0dvhXBNKPLVCLSish9tz79Ovc25V1C0y4WAfQW6qhlWGugepel0qZ17Z8EsOW_Pc5bvg3Z-M1y5xLRJpFrqQjY-g-g/s1600/BER-AVCon-3.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgO8A6YWlUuc2cGpcq_gQ8anvZs_hpuLb78hAvWggeHXh5pkOhLn0dvhXBNKPLVCLSish9tz79Ovc25V1C0y4WAfQW6qhlWGugepel0qZ17Z8EsOW_Pc5bvg3Z-M1y5xLRJpFrqQjY-g-g/s640/BER-AVCon-3.png" width="427" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I did a (very) little embroidery on some tights, but I don't have them to show- and it wasn't as interesting as I had hoped to make them anyway. I think it would have been better to wear the BER socks, but I was a bit over ambitious I suppose. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhC8WRGNJGhrtVEY13Hfnmh2EVjyIOSGxJ_f_K82ds_Xj5T5ZngdetgkkmcMtv9Hg4X5h_GWC5chnk2Y_a1hOqvbslJ_vdKH1pgI0sgnujzs6BPTjWpYRLPFmpXaP9fBjSjh2q3o0-u9ys/s1600/BER-AVCon.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhC8WRGNJGhrtVEY13Hfnmh2EVjyIOSGxJ_f_K82ds_Xj5T5ZngdetgkkmcMtv9Hg4X5h_GWC5chnk2Y_a1hOqvbslJ_vdKH1pgI0sgnujzs6BPTjWpYRLPFmpXaP9fBjSjh2q3o0-u9ys/s640/BER-AVCon.png" width="428" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I paired the dress with the cream blouse again, and made sure everything else was cream or off white to minimise how stark the dress can look. I made a pair of ribbon and rose shoe clips, that would probably also look good as hair clips (I will have to buy some more of the roses I used). I do not have a photo for you here, but I had used my dreamholic bob and twin tails to creat a high, curly hair style. I really liked it- but I also was so tired on Sunday that once the parade was over I threw off my hat and hair before I could take a picture!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Below is a few paragraphs about the making of the hat. If you'd like to skip it, then you can finish the post here without worry! Thank you so much as always for reading and looking at my photos ♥♥♥</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
Belle Epoque Rose is a strange creature. She photographs quite white,
but in reality is probably a 40/60 mix of cream to white. When picking
my hat's base colours, I put both cream and white materials up next to
it- but it was all too stark. In the end I used a dark cream with a
white dot net overlay to best effect, I think! I wanted to include a
feather but I think I am a bit of an opulent minimalist. I like things
in theory but couldn't find a way for the feather to work without
covering everything else up. It was probably better to travel with in
any case. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
For some reason, I started snapping progress photos quite late. The hat base was made from buckram. I reinforced the brim a little with two rounds of a probably a little too soft wire and covered the top of the hat with felt before applying any of the covering. I made a mistake with the pattern, and had my notches on the wrong piece (the brand of the crown, instead of the interior of the brim) but I made do, I think I definitely made things more difficult for myself than I needed to. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The cream fabric I used was a little thin, so I doubled it up. The brim was pinned down first, followed by the top of the crown. I pinned the crowns band down and then sewed around the top of the crown. I secured the base of the crown a bit more lightly, because of the afformentioned mistake. I covered this later with a length of chiffon (as seen in the third to last picture above). I then gathered the netting for the underside and secured it. I got a bit worried part way through, since I had used a straight rectangle without a curve. I'm not sure if it really had any adverse effect in the end though. I watched through most of Outlander while making this hat...</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Finally I started on the bias binding for the edge. I cut this myself from the same cream fabric. I elected not to use the tulle with it to preserve my sanity. Sewing it down went fine- until I got to the end and realised I had forgotten to cut an end at the right angle.... I was mostly upset at this point because it had all been looking so neat and now it was less so. Things to remember next time. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
It took me a bit of time after this point to sit down and finish off the interior of the crown. I think I really need to start including a band but the major problem was that I hadn't included much in the way of things to- oh I don't know- affix it to your head. You know. Just little things. That you don't really realise till the day before you leave because you never did your test outfit.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Finally I got to decorate my beast. I repurposed a bow from a cravat Thali had made some time ago. Actually I ended up using most of the thing for this- the chiffon tails are from the same thing. A little bow centre sewed on, some of the dot netting mixed in to tie in the materials better and create a cute tail. The roses are in the case of the velveteen/flocked ones, from Okadaya in Japan. I did not buy enough of them when I was there. And I will be dammned if I don't leave with at least ten of each flower I like next time I visit. One of the roses is from the chest decoration of the BER dress. The leaves I made by hand using some double sided satin ribbon. I was very grateful to find a tutorial for them, though I appear to have lost the link... The little white flowers dotted throughout were made by heavily starching a piece of the dot netting. It allowed me to cut some small flower shapes which were then gathered and sewn with a little pearl bead. A final splash with the pink ribbon tied it together for me~ </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
It was a long process, from start to finish and it was mostly done in the late evening hours after work was done. I don't remember when I started it, but that's probably for the best. I will be investing soon in some more efficient needles (thank you WSM!) and embarking on a pair (or more) of bonnets! The cream fabric I bought was actually from a place called Silk Trader, here in Melbourne. Last visit, I came away with a number of beautiful poly-silk look fabrics at a good price (remnants are perfect for these kinds of projects!) and they are waiting to be something. I will report on them as they come together! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Thank you to you again, if you managed to read through that block of text! ♥</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I will have a further report on AVCon a bit later~</div>

I seem to have made a long break in my
posts since returning! I have been having little moments over the last
few weeks where I have felt a bit lost with regard to my hobbies. I'm
slowly addressing them. A few related to this blog- namely that my
manequin photos all looked samey and secondly that I've been having some
trouble with tumblr and fetishists. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
For
the first point, I did try to take a flatlay again but.. I just didn't
like it. So I retook on the mannequin and decided if they were all going
to look the same, I'd just purposefully take them all the same. Take
<i>that</i> world. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
For
the second, well.. I haven't been posting on tumblr recently. I'm not
really sure what to do about it. Often it is simply my coordinates on
the mannequin, so it doesn't matter if I post my face or not. I don't
really care about what people do in their own time, but I really wish
that people could respect me enough to not involve me in something
involuntarily. I'll have to think about it more. For now, I guess I'll just use tumblr to observe and stick to sharing things here or with my friends on facebook. In the end that really is enough for me.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Anyway, here is some food I ate in the last few months! Pastry from the Flour Market, Curry from Brim.CC in Melbourne, Passion Mess from Royal Copenhagen in Hahndorf, another Eton Mess from the Aviary, a very not sweet tiramisu from Red Cacao in Stirling and tea and cakes from the Travelling Samovar back in Melbourne ♥</div>

It was just a quick trip for a few days. It was the first time I saw snow! And then it snowed on me in tiny flurries! And I touched snow! I was really excited. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Thali took us on some lovely walks, but it was incredibly cold out and Lauren and I are babies so we missed some interesting things. I did get up early with Thali one morning to go platypus spotting though! I only got to see a splash, but I'm told they were there.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I have a few more photos, but I wasn't sure that I should post them. Thali may have some of them up soon though, so keep an eye out.</div>

A week or so after that, we'd invited Cortnee and Jess up to have tea with us. We were very laid back about it. There were a lot of scones that didn't make it into the pictures because they were being kept warm! Also I apologise to anyone who has found me to be commenting madly on their blogs- we finally have internet! My blog reader had over 200 posts unread and well, I lost track a little.. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
I hope I can return to posting more regularly!</div>

I feel like these photos do not do this dress justice at all, but this was the second round of photos and the light was good so perhaps it's just not a good dress to photograph! I picked up Sweetie Chandelier at Supanova last month. Suffice to say, this dress is gorgeous in real life, and I didn't want anyone else to have it once I decided I liked it. </div>

The print is still sweet, but there is an overall feel of elegance. It feel like exactly the kind of thing I've been looking for, really. This print wasn't originally on my wishlist because AP's stock photos suck and I wasn't sold on the bodice style. I tried to catch the glitter on the print and show off the cute AB jewel decoration, the things that caught my eye the most- other than the print of course.</div>

<br />Thali and I also brought home a pair of matching <a href="http://www.tokimekiteikoku.com/index2.html" target="_blank">tokimeki (teitoku no momoiro gabriel)</a> fawns. My pink one pictured here is called Rosie, as Thali insisted they must have names. Her matching brown one is called Little. <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
We were lucky enough this last month to have a swap meet! It's been some time since we've had one, in fact I think we've only had one since I've been a part of the community. I don't actually think it was a bad thing though, since the quality of the goods on offer was off the charts, over all I think it was incredibly successful and I can't wait for the next one!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
In addition to the AP Rose Last Note hat and candy bag, I also traded a friend for Musee low waist- but that's another blog post altogether in the future!</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I didn't come home with too much in the end, but I think I'm really happy with what I got. The bag has some small damage, but I think it's fixable (and it was a steal!).</div>

Rose last note hat paired with an IW blouse that we bought from Jordi! I still do hope to make my own very over the top hat to match Belle Epoque Rose in the future, but I do so adore this one and it will be much, much more versatile! I cannot wait to pretty much wear it with everything ♥</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
A little while ago I mentioned I was working on something, and this was it! I'd been meaning to get to it for a little while, but it took me a little while to get around to finishing it (and in the same vein as the DDC alteration, I ended up finishing off both arms on the morning of the day I decided I wanted to wear it...).</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhvpAH5XXvq5ICqEEdbzVpNAszuQEwe6no41mRJbXnDYWs6dCGco2rKS_w4SUsJu_taf71Q9VbmhWnzUB17EhxJN4vgU_bFbckpVEFKREGRtpJ7EyezG2FhLzh6-loRgPrwUJfUwpAFzMU/s1600/Coat-of-Arms-Alt-2.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhvpAH5XXvq5ICqEEdbzVpNAszuQEwe6no41mRJbXnDYWs6dCGco2rKS_w4SUsJu_taf71Q9VbmhWnzUB17EhxJN4vgU_bFbckpVEFKREGRtpJ7EyezG2FhLzh6-loRgPrwUJfUwpAFzMU/s640/Coat-of-Arms-Alt-2.png" width="428" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I'm not a fan of one pieces, they usually feel very restrictive and limited- style and comfort wise. So I resolved to remove the sleeves and collar. The collar was cut too high, and the arms too wide for me. I'm planning to use the fabric from the sleeves to make a matching beret as well as possibly using some to trim the pockets of a cropped jacket. Who knows when I'll get to that though!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I did consider selling this piece, but I received it in a lucky pack and it was and still is quite unpopular (most people perfer the JSK in the other colour) so I decided to make it work for me instead. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Sleeves and collar removed. From this point I had Thali help me with marking out a new neckline, and used some black velveteen we had to make my own bias binding. I cut in the new neckline and also brought in the arm scythe and then attached the bias binding by hand. </div>

Finished! I don't think I attached the binding in a very conventional manner. In fact other than resewing DDC's binding back on, I haven't really used bias binding before. I'm quite happy with how it turned out. I had to decide whether I wanted to bring the arm scythe in again further, but doing so would risk ruining the shoulder decoration- the silver trim unraveled like nobodies business- so in the end I left it wider than I would have prefered.</div>

Paired with a black chiffon blouse, the dress will be a lot more comfortable in an Australian climate. </div>

I think using the velveteen to trim it keeps some of the character of the garment and doesn't detract too much, it's certainly a lot more comfortable and a little more versatile!</div>
